Timber has long been revered as a versatile and sustainable building material, with a rich history spanning centuries of architectural innovation and cultural significance. While its popularity continues to soar globally, its adoption in residential construction in Iran presents unique challenges and opportunities. This paper explores the historical legacy and contemporary resurgence of timber in residential architecture, examining its environmental sustainability, energy efficiency, versatility, aesthetic appeal, and other inherent benefits. However, obstacles such as resource scarcity, regulatory complexities, technical expertise, and cultural preferences hinder its widespread acceptance in Iran. Through a comprehensive analysis of these challenges and potential solutions, this paper underscores the importance of collaborative efforts among stakeholders to unlock the full potential of timber in creating resilient, sustainable, and culturally rich residential environments in Iran. By navigating these challenges proactively, Iran can leverage timber as a catalyst for sustainable development, paving the way for a brighter future in residential construction.
