Numerical investigation on HTO convective heat transfer in tube with twisted tape insert

چکیده

In this study, the effects of the twisted tapes placed inside a plain tube on oil convective heat transfer were investigated numerically. Heat transfer and pressure drop changes due to turbulence generation by the tape inserts were examined. The Reynolds number range in the study was between ۵۰۰ and ۵۰۰۰. Geometrical parameters included four different twist ratios, i.e., ۲, ۲.۵, ۳, and ۴. According to the results, the minimum pressure drop and pumping power are calculated for Re=۵۰۰ and the highest twist ratio and heat flux. In addition, it is observed that there is an increase in pressure drop and heat transfer depending on the Reynolds number and inverse of the tape twist ratio. Furthermore, in the present study, the maximum ascribable increase in pressure drop and heat transfer due to the twisted tapes with the mentioned specifications are ۲۸% and ۴۲.۶%, respectively. The highest performance is obtained around Re = ۱۵۰۰ for the lowest twist ratio and heat flux among those investigated by the numerical study.
