Job burnout in female nursing and midwifery faculty members: Qualitative content analysis

چکیده
Background: Job burnout is syndrome which emerged as a result of the interaction of various individual, interpersonal and organizational factors and is mostly a long-term stress reaction that is primarily seen in people with face-to-face communication jobs, such as university faculty members. The purpose of this study was to investigate the experiences of female nursing and midwifery faculty members during burnout. Methods A descriptive qualitative research was conducted using the purposeful sampling method to recruit ۱۹ female nursing and midwifery faculty members from Shiraz University of Medical Sciences between July ۲۰۱۰ and September ۲۰۱۱. Data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews. Conventional qualitative content analysis based on Granheim and Lundman's approach was used for data analysis. Results During the data analysis process, ۱۸۵۵ primary codes were extracted. Finally, after numerous revisions and removal of unnecessary and irrelevant codes, ۳۶ sub-categories, ۹ sub-categories and ۳ categories were formed. The main categories created include: work-family conflict, withdrawal from work and colleagues, and reduction of work safety and health. Conclusion: Work-family conflict is one of the major issues that has attracted the attention of many researchers in the field of women's work today. This role conflict leads to withdrawal from work and colleagues. The special working conditions of faculty members have created problems in establishing a balance between work duties and family duties, as well as withdrawing from work and colleagues, and creating a ground for the occurrence of reduced work safety and health for these employees.کلیدواژه ها
