چکیده

Background: Cervical cancer stands as one of the most prevalent gynecological cancers. Cervical cancer's link to HPV testing and recurrence is unclear despite previous studies. Investigating this relationship in Iranian patients is a pivotal aspect of this research. Materials and Methods: This retrospective analysis encompassed all cervical cancer patients referred to Firouzgar Hospital, Tehran, Iran, between ۲۰۱۶ and ۲۰۱۸. Utilizing a census method, patient data, including demographics and treatment details, were extracted from records. Follow-up samples were collected after vaginal cuff or cervix treatment (surgical or radiotherapy). Patients were categorized were into two groups: patients those with recurrence and those without. INNO-LiPA standard test was employed to detect HPV presence. Comparative analysis of various variables, such as age at diagnosis, smoking history, multiple partners, STD history, BMI, abnormal cervix, vaginal fornix involvement, cervical parameters involvement, tumor size, FIGO stage, Staging_MRI, pathology, and treatment, was conducted between the recurrence and non-recurrence groups. Results: Statistical analysis revealed no significant differences (P> ۰.۰۵) in age of diagnosis, smoking history, multiple partners, history of STD, BMI, abnormal cervix, vaginal fornix involvement, involvement of cervical parameters, tumor size, FIGO_stage, Staging_MRI, pathology and treatment between two groups. The only notable distinction was the involvement of lymph nodes, which exhibited statistical significance (P< ۰.۰۵). In addition, HPV test was positive in ۳ (۲.۴%) of those who had recurrence and in ۱۱ (۸.۹%) of those who did not have recurrence. These results suggest no relationship between hrHPV status and disease recurrence (P=۰.۱۹۶). Conclusion: The result of our study showed that a positive HPV test is not indicative of cervical cancer recurrence. Consequently, HPV testing does not suitable as a reliable predictor for the recurrence of cervical cancer.
