چکیده
Software novel by A.P. Chekhov "the Steppe" is deeply rooted in Russian literature and philosophy. For an adequate reading of its moral and philosophical sense, it is necessary to identify and comment on the range of sources relied on by A.P. Chekhov, to explore the philosophical context in which formed the idea of the story "Steppe". In particular, the deciphering of the phrase "What is substance? The substance is a thing distinctive without requiring the other to its execution", said by one of the heroes of the story, leads to the conclusion that Chekhov has influenced both ancient sources and works by N.V. Gogol – author of "the Chosen places from correspondence with friends", V.S. Solovyov, philosopher, and poet, the author of works: "Faith, reason, and experience", "Spiritual foundations of life", "Three speeches in memory of Dostoevsky". Philosophical category that operated on N.V. Gogol and V.S. Solovyov, was in tune with the Chekhov's artistic thinking were used by A.P. Chekhov as a means characteristics of his characters. The views of A. P. Chekhov were not limited to positivism, the writer paid tribute to the philosophical idealism that religious philosophy.Software novel by A.P.
