خلاصه مقاله:
Introduction: Back pain is one of the most common musculoskeletal pains that force patients with discopathy to seek care. Another intervention that can be used in this field is the use of a new auxiliary therapy called "Back and knee recovery device. This research aims to determine the effect of back and knee recovery device “kamarasa” on the severity of symptoms in patients with discopathy.Method: This study is a two-group clinical. The intervention was "Kamarasa" stretching device. The research population included all patients with grade ۱, ۲, and ۳ lumbar/sacral discopathy who met the entry criteria. Inclusion criteria include age of between ۱۸ and ۶۰ years, diagnosis of grade ۱, ۲ and ۳ discopathy according to the attending physician, absence of other disease or abnormality in the spine area. In order to collect data, the demographic information form, visual analogue scale for assessing pain intensity and comfort, a checklist of the ability to perform activities of daily living were used.Result:The mean score of pain after the intervention in the intervention group was ۳.۴۲±۱.۱۷ and in the control group was ۸.۳۶±۱.۰۶. The results showed a statistically significant difference between the two group in terms of the mean score of pain (p=۰.۰۰۰۱). The results showed that by controlling the effects of confounding variables, such as the degree of discopathy and the use of painkillers, the mean score of comfort after the intervention changed to ۹.۵۹۸ ± ۰.۱۴۹ in the intervention group and ۶.۱۰۲ ± ۰.۱۴۹ in the control group, indicating a significant difference between the two groups in this regard (P=۰.۰۰۰۱). Regarding activities daily living, Chi-Square test showed that the desired intervention in the areas of walking (chi-square=۴۶.۶۵۱, p -value=۰.۰۰۰۱) and moving (chi-square=۳۲.۵۷۱, p-value=۰.۰۰۰۱) had caused a statistically significant difference between two groups. Conclusion: Results showed that completing all sessions treatment by the back-knee recovery device, in addition to short- to medium-term effects, was able to have long-term effects on the severity of patients’ symptoms, such as pain and comfort and ADLs. Therefore knee-back recovery device as a new innovation in the auxiliary treatment of patients with grade ۱, ۲ and ۳ discopathy can be used.
