Breast, lung, and prostate carcinomas are among the most prevalent malignanciesworldwide. Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is a crucial process that playsimportant roles in embryonic development, wound healing, and cancer progression. Thisprocess facilitates the transformation of epithelial cells into mesenchymal phenotypes,which increase cell motility and invasion. The process of EMT is controlled by transcriptionfactors (TFs) belonging to SNAIL zinc finger family (SNAL۱ and SNAIL۲), TWIST basic helixloop-helix family (TWIST۱ and TCF۳), and zinc finger E-box binding homeobox proteins(ZEB۱ and ZEB۲). This study unravels the importance of ZEB, SNAIL, and TWIST TF familieson the metastasis and survival of breast invasive carcinoma (BRCA), prostateadenocarcinoma (PRAD), and lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD).Methods:We used GEPIA۲ (http://gepia۲.cancer-pku.cn/#index), an extensive and powerful onlinetool, to analyze the expression pattern of ZEB۱, ZEB۲, SNAI۱, SNAI۲, TWIST۱, and TCF۳ inLUAD, PRAD, and BRCA. Through the standard processing pipeline, GEPIA۲ providescomprehensive analysis and evaluates the correlation between gene expression andsurvival.Discussion and conclusion:Higher expression of TWIST۱ was detected in tumor samples of prostate and lung incomparison with normal tissues. Quit unlike TWIST۱, the expression of TCF۳ in tumorsamples was considerably higher than their normal counterparts across BRCA, LUAD, andPRAD. Regarding ZEB۱, ZEB۲, SNAI۱, and SNAI۲, overexpression was more obvious innormal samples than in tumor ones. We also evaluated the correlation between EMT-TFsand the survival rate of BRCA, LUAD, and PRAD patients. We found a negative correlationbetween SNAI۱ and survival in BRCA. In addition, the expression of SNAI۱, SNAI۲, and TWIST۱ was negatively correlated with survival in LUAD. Last but not least, TWIST۱ and more considerably TCF۳ were negatively correlated with survival in PRAD.
