چکیده

Cancer is a disease in which cells in the body grow out of control. When cancer starts in the lungs, it iscalled lung cancer. Lung cancer begins in the lungs and may spread to lymph nodes or other organs in thebody, such as the brain. Cancer from other organs also may spread to the lungs. When cancer cells spreadfrom one organ to another, they are called metastases. Lung cancer is one of the most common types ofcancer worldwide. Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is the most frequent histological subtype, taking up۴۰–۵۰% of lung cancer cases. Smoking tobacco (including cigarettes, cigars, and pipes) is the primaryrisk factor for lung cancer but it can also affect non-smokers. Other risk factors include exposure tosecondhand smoke, occupational hazards (such as asbestos, radon and certain chemicals), air pollution, hereditary cancer syndromes, and previous chronic lung diseases. Lung cancer is a significant publichealth concern, causing a considerable number of deaths globally. GLOBOCAN ۲۰۲۰ estimates of cancerincidence and mortality produced by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) show aslung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer death, with an estimated ۱.۸ million deaths (۱۸%) in۲۰۲۰. Understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying the development and progression of lungcancer may improve early diagnosis, treatment and prognosis. Bioinformatics also helps in identifyingcommon biomarkers and differentially expressed genes in different cancer types which further improvesthe process of cancer diagnosis.
