چکیده مقاله:

Adolescence is characterized by extensive changes in biological, psychological, cognitive and social dimensions, as well as changes in the communication and interaction context of the adolescent, including with family, peers, school and other institutions. Adolescence is a dynamic period that shows the importance of this period in understanding the growing interpersonal relationships and the changing context of the adolescent. The relationships that define the period of adolescence justify the study of adolescence in a developed system and in a specific framework. Meanwhile, self-esteem is considered one of the most important psychological factors and one of the main and important components of mental health in adolescents, and it has been the focus of researchers and thinkers in the last few decades. Self-esteem refers to a person’s evaluation of his/her own characteristics; in simple words, it is the respect that people have for themselves and the capacity that a person has to receive love and respect. Also, self-esteem is one of the building blocks of self-confidence in every person. On the other hand, emotion-oriented therapy with an emphasis on the skills of identifying and diagnosing one’s own and others’ emotions (emotional awareness), the correct way to express emotions according to the social situation (emotional understanding), reducing the intensity of negative emotions before the response occurs (emotional regulation); besides, it affects anxiety and other intense negative emotions. According to the stated contents, the current research was conducted with the aim of reviewing the impact and effectiveness of the emotion-oriented approach on the self-esteem of adolescents.
