SEED PROTEIN ANALYSIS OF ALHAGI (LEGUMINOSAE) SPECIES AND POPULATIONS

Seedstorageproteinswerestudied by using SDS-PAGE in ۱۴ populations of twoAlhagi species, namelyA. graecorumBoiss. And A. pseudalhagi(M. B.) Desv. In total ۱۱ protein bands wereobtainedamongwhich, bands ۱, ۲, ۴, ۵, ۷, ۹ and ۱۰ werecommon in all the taxa studiedwhile band ۳ isspecific in Mehran population of A. graecorum. Cluster analysis of protein data revealedthatsuch data may not beuseful in differentiating the twoAlhagi species, howevertheycanbeused in revealing the inter-population variation.
