The present article reports the results of studies related to the synthesis of Al2O3-ZrO2 nanocomposite powders by solid state combustion using ammonium bicarbonate as a new fuel. To characterize theproducts, X-ray diffractometry, FTIR, SEM and BET were used. XRD pattern showed that the phasespresent were g -Al2O3 and t-ZrO2 and Nanopowders obtained with small crystallite size (<15 nm) and fine agglomerates, specific surface area 230.20 m2g-1 and pore volume 0.217 cm3g-1.
