Industries, such as textile, ceramic, paper, printing and plastic, use dye as their raw material, thus generating a large amount of coloured wastewater. Adsorption methods are promising in decolorizing textile effluents, but this application is limited by the high amount of required adsorbents. The objective of thisstudy was to assess the adsorption potential of cadmium telluride nanoparticle loaded on activated carbon(CTN-AC) for the removal of Sunset Yellow (SY) molecules from aqueous solutions. Adsorption studies were conducted in a batch system as a function of solution pH, contact time, initial dye concentration, CTNAC amount, temperature, etc. while SY concentrations were determined by UV-Vis spectrophotometer. In order to investigate the adsorption processes of SY on the CTN-AC, pseudo-first-order, pseudo-secondorder,Elovich and intra-particle diffusion kinetic models were studied and it followed the pseudo-secondorder kinetic model with good correlation. Equilibrium data fitted well with the Langmuir models.Thermodynamic parameters such as enthalpy (ΔH◦), entropy (ΔS◦), activation energy (Ea), sticking probability (S*) and Gibb’s free energy changes (ΔG◦) were also calculated. It was found from different evaluated thermodynamic parameters, ΔH◦, ΔS◦ and ΔG◦ that the sorption of dye by CTN-AC was feasible, spontaneous and endothermic process
