Psychological well-being and the COVID-۱۹ pandemic

چکیده

Introduction: In many countries, during the COVID-۱۹ pandemic, issuing stay-at-home orders and limiting the types of social interactions in which citizens can effect on psychological well-being.Methods: This cross-sectional research was conducted between March to May ۲۰۲۳ in Iran. A total of ۳۴۵ participants were recruited in the study. To measure the data valid and reliable instruments of Goldberg's General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-۲۸), Multidimensional Health Locus of Control (MHLC), interpersonal support evaluation list (ISEL-SF) and health-protective behaviors checklist instrument were used.Results: According to the results, health locus of control, social support and COVID-۱۹ preventive behaviors were positively correlated with the psychological well-being (p-value ≤ ۰.۰۵). The strongest correlation was observed between psychological well-being and protective behaviors (r= ۰.۳۷۶; p < ۰.۰۵). In the hierarchical regression model, totally, demographic characteristics along with health locus of control, social support, covid-۱۹ preventive behaviors and history of COVID-۱۹ infection were able to explain ۵۷.۴% of the variation in psychological well-being.Conclusion: The preventive and supportive actions of public healthcare providers and policy makers to implement are highly advised for promoting health locus of control and social support in adults during the COVID-۱۹ pandemic. It is better to include a community’s social environmental changes.
