چکیده

In this study we evaluated a convenient synthesis of (Z)-۲-hydroxy-۲-(۴-oxo-۳-(propylamino)pent-۲-en-۲-yl)-۱H-indene-۱,۳(۲H)-dione ۳and this synthesized compound wasalso evaluated for cytotoxic and antimicrobial activities. The title compound was preparedthrough the reaction of between a synthetic Enaminone۱ and Nihydrin۲at ambient temperature.Structural assignment of the product was confirmed on the basis of IR, ۱HNMR, ۱۳C NMR, MSand analytical data. The in vitro cytotoxic capacity was screened against Glioma brain tumoranimal model cell line (C۶) in different concentrations based on MTT assay and displayed thepromising behavior by showing better cytotoxic activity. The synthesized compound was alsoscreened for in vitro antimicrobial activity by using the disc-diffusion method [۱] anddetermining the minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) [۲] against Gram positive, Gramnegative bacteria and fungi.The results of cytotoxic study indicated that the synthesizedcompound in some concentrations was more active as compared to the standard drug, which maybe taken as lead compound for the development of novel cytotoxic agent. Also this compoundinhibited the growth of Gram negative bacteria, being Escherichia coli the most susceptible onewith MIC of ۳۲ μg/mL. In conclusion, we have developed a rapid and efficient method forsynthesis of a medicinal compound indicates good cytotoxicity and antimicrobial potency.
