An efficient and environmental-friendly synthetic route to ۱,۸-dioxodecahydroacridines derivatives havebeen developed via multi-component one-pot Hantzsch reaction of various aldehydes and ammonium acetatewith ۲ equivalents dimedone in the presence of Phosphorus pentoxide supported on alumina as catalyst undersolvent-free conditions. The present approach offers several advantages such as short reaction times, easyisolation and purification of product, and safe, non-toxic, recyclable and economic use of catalyst.
