چکیده مقاله:

The two-spotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae Koch (Acari: Tetranychidae), is one of the mostserious cosmopolitan phytophagous mites, commonly found on many horticultural and agricultural crops.Long-term overuse of chemical pesticides for pest control may have resulted in spider mite resurgenceand subsequent high-level resistance to common acaricides. These problems have led to increased in thesearch for efficient alternative strategies. Therefore, this research was accomplished to determinefumigant toxicity of essential oil of tarragon, Artemisia dracunculus var.dracunculus, on T. urticae. Withthis intention, the leaves of plant were dried under suitable ventilation and shade conditions then theessential oil was obtained by steam distillation for 3 h using Clevenger-type apparatus. Theconcentrations of 40, 60, 80, 100 and 120 μlL-1 air of A. dracunculus were infused on the filter paperpieces of 1 cm in diameter that they were attached to the lids of Petri dishes .For bioassay, a leaf disk with2 cm diameter was placed on wet cotton wool in 90-mm diameter Petri dishes and 15 adult females of T.urticae were putted on a leaf disk then they were covered with their tops, four replicates were consideredfor each concentration. Mortality was recorded after 24 h and The LC50 value was estimated by using thePOLO-PC program, it was 83.42 μlL-1 air. Our results indicated that, this essential oil could be used onthe management of control two-spotted spider mite.
