In this paper, PdO nanostructures were successfully synthesized by a thermal decomposition method at low temperature using palladium-metal organic framework (Pd-MOF) nanoparticles as a novel beginning reagent. Pd-MOF nanoparticles were prepared by an easy hydrothermal approach using ۲,۶-pyridinedicarboxylic acid as organic ligand and Pd(CH۳COO)۲ as palladium source. Pure cubicphase of PdO nanostructures were synthesized after calcination of of Pd-MOF nanoparticles at ۲۲۴ °C for ۶ h into an autoclave. The morphology and structure of the achieved products were characterized by X-ray Diffraction patterns, Energy-Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy, Fourier Transformed Infrared spectrum, Scanning Electron Microscopy. Also, the efficiency of PdO nanostructures as a photocatalyst for the decolorization of methylene blue (MB) under visible light irradiation has been evaluated. The synthesized PdO nanostructures exhibited appreciablephotocatalytic activity and in presence of PdO, ۸۸ % degradation of MB was obtained after ۱۳۰ min.
