Growth factors, genes, chemokines, cytokines, and other signaling molecules interactin the complicated process of tissue regeneration. When used in tissue engineering, controlleddrug release from a scaffold can hasten local regeneration while avoiding worries aboutunintended systemic effects. The process of regeneration is how organisms replace lost ordamaged tissue, and the ability to regenerate differs significantly between species, tissues, and life stages. Studies have shown that nerve dependency plays a crucial role in tissueregeneration. Destroying the connection between the amputation plane and the radial nerve instarfish arm regeneration results in the failure of regeneration. In vertebrates, the presence ofpluripotent vs. unipotent/multipotent stem/progenitor cells represents two differentmechanisms in tissue regeneration. Wound healing, tissue repair, and regenerative medicineare in great demand, and great achievements in these fields have been made. The traditionalstrategy of tissue repair and regeneration has focused on the level of tissues and organsdirectly; however, the basic process of repair at the cell level is often neglected. Repairingdamaged cells first, then tissue and organs, is a personal view on tissue repair andregenerative medicine
