The dynamic behavior of ion-based functionalizedcarbon nanotube (CNT) oscillators is studied here. Tothis end, van der Waals (vdW) interactions between ionand nanotube are modeled by the ۶-۱۲ Lennard-Jones(LJ) potential, while the electrostatic interactionsbetween ion and functional groups are modeled by theCoulomb potential. Making the assumption that carbonatoms and charge of functional groups are all uniformlydistributed over the nanotube surface and the two ends ofnanotube, respectively, a continuum approach isemployed to evaluate the related interactions. Theequation of motion is solved numerically to arrive at thetime history of displacement and velocity of chlorideion. The influence of electric charge on the oscillatorybehavior of chloride ion-functionalized CNT oscillatorsis examined. It is shown that the presence of functionalgroups leads to enhancing the operating frequency ofsuch oscillatory systems especially when the electriccharges of ion and functional groups have differentsigns.
