چکیده
Introduction & Objective: Aloe vera is a medicinal plant that has a long history of use in the world. This plant is very popular in the field of oral and dental health due to its various properties. The present study was designed with the aim of investigating the role of aloe vera in modern dentistry.Methods: The present study was a brief review study designed in ۲۰۲۲. The search was conducted in international and national databases, including PubMed and Scopus. Articles that reported on cancer statistics around the world were reviewed. Summaries of articles published in congresses and conferences were excluded from the study. Initially, ۱۱ articles in English were finally evaluated.Results: By examining the results of various studies, it was found that aloe vera is an effective anti-inflammatory agent with analgesic properties and has antiviral and antifungal activities. Having antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, this plant is used in the treatment of gingivitis and periodontitis, which effectively reduces gingivitis and the pain caused by it. Toothpaste containing aloe vera plays a significant role in reducing gum inflammation and plaque accumulation. In addition to having the same effects as toothpaste, mouthwash containing aloe vera is an alternative agent for the treatment of oral mucositis and radiation-induced candidiasis in patients with head and neck cancer. The use of aloe vera gel as a subgingival agent in the treatment of periodontal pockets has been proven. Aloe vera gel is an antifungal agent that can be used to treat painful areas of the oral mucosa covered by dentures. Its gel also reduces the healing period of aphthous ulcers. Aloe vera dental implants can be used around dental implants to control inflammation caused by bacterial contamination.Conclusion: Due to its anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anti-fungal properties, aloe vera plant has many applications in the field of dentistry. It is used to treat gingivitis, oral thrush, mucositis and oral candidiasis. To make more use of this plant and its properties, by providing facilities for capable people in the field of growing this plant and supporting people with innovation in the production of materials and medicines in the field of health and oral and dental diseases, we can witness its progress and practical roles in Dentistry was modern.کلیدواژه ها
