چکیده مقاله:

Background: Tobacco use is an important challenge in public health, especially for pregnantmothers. Which harms the fetus in addition to the mother. Therefore, this study aims toinvestigate the effect of smoking on the height and weight of the fetus.Methods: The current study is a systematic review study that was conducted by searching Googlescholar, elmnet and Web of Science, Scopus, SID databases with the keywords of smoking, heightand weight, pregnant mothers in the ۲۰۰۰-۲۰۲۲ was carried out and finally ۵ studies wereexamined according to the objectives of the research.Results: In general, according to the research, giving birth to a low birth weight baby amongwomen who smoke has been proven today. Smoking or exposure to smoke during pregnancy isassociated with increased morbidity and mortality in infants. Those who smoked only in the firsttrimester, their babies are taller than those who smoked in the second and third trimesters. Also,women who quit smoking before becoming pregnant have a lower risk of low birth weight. Finds.Even the rate of low birth weight babies in women who stop smoking during pregnancy is reducedcompared to women who smoke during pregnancy.Conclusion: According to the findings of the research, the effect of smoking on the height,weight, and head circumference of the fetus was evident. Therefore, it is recommended to policymakers to hold training and clarification classes for this group of people in order to preventsmoking.
