In recent decades, the decline of human fertility has become increasingly alarming. Prevention isthe most successful approach for fertility disorders in men and women. Many researches have beenconducted on the effect of preventable factors, including incorrect lifestyle and unhealthy habits,on the fertility of men and women. Smoking is one of the cases that, despite its effects onreproduction and the consequences of pregnancy and fetal health, a significant part of women andmen of reproductive age are still suffering from it. This study provides an overview of clinical andexperimental studies that have addressed the effects of smoking on female and male fertility, alsoconsidering effects on the ovaries, fallopian tubes and uterus, ovarian reserve, steroidogenesis,ovulation, and the menstrual cycle. , fallopian tube function and uterine acceptance andimplantation, polycystic ovary syndrome and endometriosis have studied the effects of smoke onmale fertility and semen quality. Studies were searched using selected keywords in PubMed.Articles were retrieved individually by each author. No release date restrictions have been set.Articles in languages other than English were excluded. At present, the most consistent evidenceof the harmful effect of smoke on women"s reproductive performance and sperm quality in menhas been provided by experimental studies. In general, clinical studies show that smoking isassociated with decreased fertility
