چکیده
Background: In recent years, the epidemic of the corona virus disease (COVID-۱۹) has becomethe most important challenge for governments. Since this disease causes lung involvement, and onthe other hand, smoking and nicotine are effective in the pathogens of lung diseases, therelationship between smoking in COVID-۱۹ is important.Methods: The present study is a review type that was conducted in first half of ۱۴۰۱, in this study,articles published between ۱۳۸۱-۱۳۹۷ (۲۰۰۲-۲۰۱۹) were examined. In order to obtain relatedscientific documents, an electronic search in both Persian and English languages using thekeywords smoking, COVID-۱۹ progression, ACE۲, in databases including PubMed, GoogleScholar, Science Direct were used.Results: In the present study, a total of ۵۸ articles were collected and articles whose full text wasnot available were excluded from the study. Qualified and related studies were selected and theirdata were extracted. The results of studies within our reach indicate that smoking causes anincrease in the incidence of COVID-۱۹ due to the suppression of the immune system. On the otherhand, smoking tobacco (cigarettes, electronic cigarettes or hookah) and the resulting exhaledsmoke can spread aerosols containing SARS-Cov-۲ in the surrounding environment and make iteasier to spread. In some communities, people had turned to smoking because they found socialdistancing stressful.Conclusion: Tobacco control is a bigger challenge than ever in the context of the COVID-۱۹pandemic. Officials and decision-markers related to tobacco control should be more vigilant andgive special support to tobacco-dependent patients in the context of disease epidemic. It seems thatwith the help of proper planning, counseling and training for these people, it is possible to create afavorable environment for smoking cessation among consumers.کلیدواژه ها
