چکیده

Ferrites are well-known commercially important materials on account of their excellent magnetic and electrical properties. Spinel ferrites are used in the fabrication of multilayer chip inductors (MLCI) as surface mount devices for miniaturized electronic products such as cellular phones, digital diaries, video camera recorders, floppy drives, etc. [1]. Ni-Zn ferrites were considered as the most versatile ferrites due to their high resistivity and then low eddy currentloss for high frequency applications. Microstructure and magnetic properties of Ni-Zn ferrites are highly sensitive to composition, sintering conditions, grain size, type and amount of additives, impurities and the preparation methodology [2]. The addition of copper in Ni-Zn ferrites shows excellent magnetic properties (e.g. high initial permeability and very low coercivity) and a low firing temperature for preparation the ferrite. These save the energy and reduce the layers of MLCI, which are expected to be an effective way to deal with the keenmarket competition of MLCI [3]. Nanostructured materials are now being studied intensively due to their novel physicochemical properties and mechanochemical processing (MCP) has now become one of the conventionalmethods for preparation and/of production of nanomaterials [4]. Thus in this work, we have synthesized Ni0.5-xZn0.5CuxFe2O4 (x=0, 0.4) ferrite nanoparticles via mechanochemical processing. The aim of this work is to investigate the effects of Cu addition on Ni-Zn ferrites by partial substitution of Ni2+ that has influence on the lattice constant, phase formation and Curie temperature.
