In recent years, there has been considerable interest in semiconductors of nanometer dimensions. Semiconductors have many potential applications and demonstration devices; for example, light-emitting diodes, photocatalysts and electrochemical cell have reported. Several methods have been used for the preparation of various sulfides, such as gas phasereaction with H2S or sulfur vapor, solid-state reaction, sol–gel process, spray-prolysis methods, photolysis and thermochemical methods. However, the control of photoluminescence properties of CdS nanocrystals with narrow size distribution is still a challenge.In addition; using inexpensive and easy methods with good reproducibility is more favorable. In this paper, we report the result of microwave irradiation based method for the synthesis of highly luminescent CdS:O nanocrystals
