Investigating the causes of infertility and new methods in its diagnosis and treatment (a systematic review study)

Introduction: Until the late nineteenth century, the infertility of each couple was consideredan incurable thing and one of the most important life crises that caused the termination ofgenerations. Infertility means the inability to conceive after one year of regular sexualintercourse without the use of contraceptives. Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) in alltreatment methods that lead to artificial insemination with human intervention. This setincludes methods of intrauterine sperm insemination, in vitro fertilization, transfer of eggs andsperm into the fallopian tubes, transfer of egg cells into the fallopian tubes, and injection ofsperm into the egg. The aim of this study was to evaluate new methods in diagnosis andinfertility treatment.Search Method: This study is a systematic review study conducted in ۱۴۰۱. Using thekeywords infertility, diagnosis, treatment, and assisted reproduction were performed inreputable databases including PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar, and Embase without timelimit. To ensure the completion of search results, article sources were reviewed and afterremoving duplicate titles from endnote software and reviewing titles and abstracts, articlesrelated to JBi tools were reviewed. After reviewing the quality of articles, the findings in thecase checklist Comment were entered.Results:۱۲۱ articles were reviewed and finally ۳۸ articles were selected that were related tothe purpose of the study. According to studies, the results of some studies have shown that awoman's lack of ovulation can cause infertility. Women who do not have regular periods oftendo not ovulate. Diseases such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), thyroid disease, and otherhormonal disorders can affect ovulation. Closed or damaged fallopian tubes can causeinfertility or ectopic pregnancy. Infertility can be caused by a man's inability to produce spermor ejaculate. Sperm quality is important and is measured by measuring the number, movement,and shape of sperm. Reproductive technology (ART) helps to treat infertility. This includesfertility treatments that include both a female egg and a male sperm. This is done by removingthe egg from a woman's body. The eggs are then mixed with sperm to produce the embryo. Theembryos are placed in the female body. In vitro fertilization (IVF) is the most common andeffective type of ART.Conclusion: The results show that assisted reproductive therapy (ART) is a treatment forinfertility and today, by applying new techniques in infertility treatment, we can contribute toreducing infertility and thus improving family health.
