چکیده مقاله:

Although stem cells are widely used in the treatment of various diseases, they still need to be further investigated because of their many advantages and disadvantages. The successful efforts of cancer immunotherapies in the United States and mesenchymal stem cells (MSC)-based therapy in Europe have made regenerative medicine a prominent treatment method. Nowadays, new hope is provided for patients with incurable diseases by using cell-based therapy, especially stem cell-based therapy. Stem cell-based therapies focus on disease management rather than cure. Stem cell-based therapy is an important branch of regenerative medicine, the ultimate goal of which is to strengthen the body's repair system by stimulating, modulating, and regulating the endogenous stem cell population or filling the cell pool toward homeostasis and tissue regeneration. The definition of stem cells with their unique characteristics of self-renewal and differentiation was introduced. So, many basic and clinical studies have been conducted on them, and they are defined as potential therapeutic agents. The main function of regenerative medicine is tissue regeneration and cell replacement. Various types of stem cells, including human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs), multipotent stem cells, and progenitor cells are used to achieve these goals. Accordingly, this study introduces stem cells and their types and reviews the latest studies conducted with the approach of disease treatment using stem cells.
