چکیده مقاله:

Metal matrix composites (MMCs) are lightweight materials with various applications in numerous industriesand products. However, the composition and the weight of reinforcing particles significantly affect the structural andfunctional properties of fabricated MMCs. To this end, multiple technologies and approaches were developed tofabricate these materials, and many research works are currently in progress. In this work, the adequacy of the stircasting method to fabricate the Al-MMCS was assessed. The surface and subsurface topography evaluations were thenperformed to investigate the porosity and homogeneity of the fabricated parts. The experimental results confirm thatthe matrix structure uniformly dispersed the silicon carbide (SiC) elements. The fabricated parts were then undergonemachining operations with coated and non-coated tools under various experimental and lubrication conditions. However, the machining results are beyond this work's scope and will be presented in upcoming articles.
