What is digital storytelling role in Health issues? A review article

چکیده

Digital storytelling is an art-based method of education and transferring information in which include photos, videos, voice messages and notes and will take ۱۰ to ۱۵ minutes. In this method people who experienced a disease or problem and could overwhelm it, or people who are specialist in a field, will share their experiences to people who want to learn or know. In Today’s world digital storytelling can play different roles such as education and prevention. This method can be an useful tool for nurses and help them provide a better holistic care. So we aimed to determine the role of digital storytelling in health issues by reviewing articles in this field. Method:In order to find articles about digital storytelling, we searched selected data bases using Medical Subject Heading (MeSH). Review was done by keywords like Digital storytelling, Digital narrative, Digital narrative therapy, during ۲۰۱۶ to ۲۰۲۲ through PubMed, ProQuest, Google Scholar, Scopus and Elsevier data bases and search engineer in English language. Results:Review showed that digital storytelling is an useful method that can play a significant role in increasing awareness, health promotion, prevention and rehabilitation of patients who experienced a disease. Otherwise, Digital storytelling is a Psycho-social tool for cancer survivors and can help them cope with cancer. According to articles which reviewed in this study, Storytelling can also help healthcare providers specially nurses and can make them able to serve a better care. In today’s technological word, using a digital way to teach, educate and promote wellbeing and health of individuals might be necessary and digital storytelling will be the right tool. Discussion:Nowadays we live in a technological world and according to technology progression, using digital medias and digital tools can play a significant role in individual’s lives. Digital storytelling can be a useful method in health field, so that patients and individuals who need help might benefit from this method. Also digital storytelling can be more frequent than traditional storytelling, according to digital age we are in. Individuals can use digital platforms and digital tools in order to communicate with others and share different experiences and increase their own knowledge.
