چکیده

Background and aim: The head and neck are the most common sites of lymphangiomatous tumors. However, tumors in the palatin tonsils are less common. There are three types of lymphangiomas in the head and neck region: Lymphangioma simplex, composing thin-walled capillary sized lymphatic channels, cystic hygroma, and cavernous lymphangioma. Patients typically present with chief complaints of dysphagia, sore throat, and mass sensation in the throat.Patioent Report: In this paper we report a ۲۸-year-old male patient presented with chief complaint of sore throat referring to Vali-Asr hospital, Fasa, Iran, in November ۲۰۱۹. Physical examination revealed a polypoid creamy soft tissue mass measuring ۲×۱×۰.۳ cm attached to his right-side palatine tonsil. His laboratory results were normal, including WBC (۶.۶ ۱۰*۳/uL) and lymphocytes (۳۱.۷%). Serial cut sections showed a homogenous creamy surface. Excisional biopsy confirmed Lymphangiomyolipoma. Which was recovered completely after operation. It is also worth mentioning that the patient was better in his first-year follow-up.Conclusion: A rare case of tonsilar lymphangiomyolipoma presented with simple sore throat and was diagnosed incidentally. Diagnosing these lesions is challenging for pathologists and should have standard terminology to treat the patient correctly.
