Spermatogonial stem cells: Origin and specification, properties, culture, and clinical applications

Great advances have been reached in the field of spermatogonial stem cells (SSCs) since the first report on the existence of these cells by Huckines and colleagues in ۱۹۵۳. However, there are still some challenges in the field of SSCs including lack of global procedures for culturing and specific markers for isolating these cells and future improvements will overcome these challenges. This review focuses on these improvements in different aspects of SSCs and comprehensively represents the latest improvements in our understanding of the SSC formation, properties, culture, and future clinical applications.
