Evaluation of Mammography Status And Related Factors In Female General Population In Bandar Abbas In ۱۴۰۰

Introduction: Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women and the second most common cancer in the world. Mammography is the most common test that can be used to detect early breast cancer. The aim of this study is to determine the status of mammography screening and its related factors in the female population of Bandar Abbas in ۱۴۰۰.Methods: This cross_sectional study was descriptive_analytical and the sample population of this study included women of ۴۰ years and older living in Bandar Abbas, which is conducted in a systematic random method in ۱۴۰۰. Data were collected using a researcher-made questionnaire of individual-social information and screening status by telephone. Then these data were analyzed by statistical softwares such as version ۱۶ of SPSS and statistical tests like t-test, Chi-square and logistic regresion.Results: The average age of the women was ۶۴.۸+۸.۳۳ years. ۳۰% of women had done mammography. In ۸۵% of women,the interval between their screening was more than ۵years. The average age of mammography was ۴۴/۱۶+۹/۲۳ years. The reason of screening in ۲۰/۴% women was checking the mentioned health status. The reasons for not screening, in ۷۵/۴% of women was that they didn't have any breast problems and in ۶.۲۴% of them was lack of knowledge.Conclusion: The findings of this study showed that most women did not realize the importance of breast cancer screening and regular checking. Therefore, it is suggested to educate people with preventive activities to increase awareness and also to provide conditions for mammography to reduce the prevalence of the disease, improve health status and reduce the costs of breast cancer treatment in the female population.
