چکیده مقاله:
Background and Aim : Considering the dearth of research on the complications of Sinopharmcoronavirus disease ۲۰۱۹ (COVID-۱۹) vaccine in the immunocompromised individuals and thelack of available data on COVID-۱۹ vaccination from Iran. This study aimed to investigate thecomplications and efficacy of Sinopharm COVID-۱۹ vaccine in bone marrow transplant (BMT)recipients. Methods : This was a retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted on ۲۵۰ patients with BMTwho were referred to Montaserieh Hospital, Mashhad, Iran. Among them ۵۳ case who received atleast two doses of Sinopharm COVID-۱۹ vaccine from March to January ۲۰۲۱ were entered inthis study. The data were extracted from a student dissertation (Code:۴۰۰۰۳۷۰).Results : Sinopharm vaccine side effects were reported only in ۷.۷% of the patients, and Shingleswas the only serious side effect of the Sinopharm vaccine, which was observed only in onecase. The results also revealed that Sinopharm COVID-۱۹ vaccine side effects were not related toage or gender. Infection with Delta variant of COVID-۱۹ was reported in ۷.۵% (n=۴) and nomortality was reported among them. Vaccine failure was reported in ۳۹.۶% of the cases; however,no mortality was reported among patients infected with the Omicron variant of COVID-۱۹.Conclusion : In summary, it seems that Sinopharm COVID-۱۹ vaccine adverse effects were notserious among stem cell transplant recipients. However, it may lead to some severe complicationsin the population. Vaccine failure against the Delta and Omicron variants of COVID-۱۹ has beenreported among more than one-third of BMT patients; however, no mortality was observed amongBMT patients infected with the new variants of COVID-۱۹.
