چکیده مقاله:

Background and Aim : Microbiomes are bacteria that normally live in different parts of thehuman body. So far, it has been thought that bacteria are only present in limited parts of the body, and organs such as the pancreas and lungs are sterile which is not true. One of the sites wherebacteria have been found in the human body is cancerous tumors. These tumors have their ownmicroenvironment, which includes cancer cells, fibroblasts, T-cells, NK-cells, macrophages, anddendritic cells in addition to bacteria. Methods : Our method was searching in online databases such as google scholar, PubMed, etc.the search was limited to the English language and time-limited from ۲۰۲۰ to ۲۰۲۲ due to thesubject's novelty and history. Then we filtered ۳۰ primary articles by reviewing their titles andabstracts and removed irrelevant and nun useful ones through the PRISMA chart and eventuallyused ۱۱ as references. Results : the tumor microbiome can help cancer to grow or stop its progression through followingways: ۱. Inhibiting the immune system and immune responses ۲. Direct effect on the canceroustumor by damaging DNA, increasing mutations, activation of oncogenic pathways, and regulationof oncogene compounds ۳. Effect on response to cancer treatment by metabolizing the compoundsused in chemotherapy and inhibiting them ۴. Impact on the spread and metastasis of cancerConclusion : The purpose of identifying and investigating the characteristics of these bacteria isto use them in the prevention and treatment of cancers. After knowing the genus and species, thecharacteristics, and their function, we can prevent cancers or reduce their progression if the bacteriathat cause pre-cancerous inflammation are observed and detected. It is also possible to preventfurther growth and spread of cancer by targeting bacteria that help in the growth and developmentof cancer, which can be through target therapy or by using antibiotics. A series of treatments suchas biliary stent placement or neoadjuvant treatment can increase the tumor microbiome, whichknowing these can be effective in choosing the best treatment. Another method of using thesebacteria in the treatment is to replace the tumor microbiome with helpful bacteria.
