چکیده
Background and Aim : Gut microbiota and host genetic alterations, such as downregulation ofE-cadherin expression in the gastrointestinal tract, are tightly associated with the development ofcolorectal cancer. Bacillus subtilis natto is an effective treatment probiotic supplement for variousdiseases including colon cancer. In this study, we investigated the gene expression of E-cadherinin Caco-۲ cell line treated with B. subtilis natto.Methods : The lyophilized powder of B. subtilis natto (ATCC ۷۰۵۹) was cultured in BHI brothunder facultative anaerobic conditions and placed in a shaker incubator for ۲۴ hours. Th coloniccarcinoma cell line Caco-۲ was treated with different MOIs of live bacteria. MTT assay was usedto assess the viability of Caco-۲ cells upon treatment. The effect of B. subtilis natto on the geneexpression level of E-cadherin was examined by RT-qPCR.Results : Based on the results obtained in this study, B. subtilis natto significantly increased thegene expression level of E-cadherin in Caco-۲ cells compared to untreated control.Conclusion : The results of this study showed that probiotic B. subtilis natto can increase cell-celladhesion through E-cadherin in Caco-۲ cells. Taken together, probiotic B. subtilis natto can beregarded as an effective supplementation in the treatment of colorectal cancer.کلیدواژه ها
