Investigating the relationship between gene expression level of MYC gene and non-coding RNA lnc-mycbp-۱-۳ in Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

Background: In recent years, an increasing trend in the incidence of acute lymphoblasticleukemia (ALL) has been reported. However, the molecular mechanisms involved are not fullyunderstood. Because of the importance of c-MYC in ALL pathogenesis, it is important toconsider the associated lncRNAs in identifying the molecular mechanisms involved in diseaseprogression. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate the role of MYC gene and relatedLncRNAs as a potential target for the treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukemia.Materials and Methods: This case-control study was performed on ۴۰ ALL patients and ۴۰healthy controls in the years ۲۰۲۰-۲۰۲۱. For this purpose, total RNA was extracted from bloodsamples and after cDNA synthesis, MYC, lnc-mycbp-۱-۳ expression were measured using RealTime PCR. Statistical analysis of the results was performed using SPSS software and appropriatetests.Results: The results of the gene expression study showed that in patients with ALL, MYCexpression and related lncRNA lnc-mycbp-۱-۳ compared to controls had significant increases (P<۰.۰۵). These expression changes were not significantly different in age, sex, MRD and T-ALLand B-ALL categories (P> ۰.۰۵). lncRNA lnc-mycbp-۱-۳ correlated with the MYC gene, and theROC curve indicated their strong biomarker potential.Conclusion: Using lncRNAs as diagnostic, prognostic and therapeutic markers can be aappropriate option that needs further research. According to the results of the present experiment,it is reported for the first time that lnc-mycbp-۱-۳ has increased expression in patients with ALLand can be used as strong biomarkers
