خلاصه مقاله:
Due to population increase and age, cancer is a primary cause of death inboth developed and developing countries, and it is becoming a greatermedical burden worldwide. The goal of this study was to look at theimportance and use of stem cells in cancer treatment. This is a review thatwas conducted by searching PubMed and Google Scholar with the subjectof the importance of stem cells in the treatment of cancer. Stem cells areidentified as a distinct population by their ability to: ۱) self-renewindefinitely, ۲) generate clonal cell populations formed from single cells, and ۳) differentiate into multiple cell types. The ability of resident stemcell pools to self-renew is critical for tissue regeneration and homeostasis.Stem cells have unique features, such as motility toward cancer cells, production of bioactive substances, and immunosuppression, that help totarget tumors and overcome barriers to gene therapy. The employment ofpreclinical stem cell-based techniques in targeted anti-cancer therapeuticapplications shows a lot of potentials. Stem cell technology has thepotential to revolutionize cancer treatment. Stem cells migrate to solidtumors and micrometastatic lesions, allowing anti-tumor agents to bedelivered to particular sites. The limited half-lives of standardchemotherapeutic drugs can be overcome by engineering stem cells toexpress a range of anticancer medicines. However, overcoming the limitsof stem cell therapy will necessitate more research into the interactionsbetween normal and malignant stem cells.
