چکیده مقاله:
Offshore environment requires special design criterion to be considered because of the existing loadings on the platforms and structures. The nature of these loadings are random and cyclic. These fact necessitates the fatigue criterion to be considered and satisfied during the design stage. One of the most exposed structures is the riser of the platform which takes the highest safety level because of the high risk associated with its duty. There are different parameters affecting the fatigue life of these fatigue sensitive structures. These parameters may increase the life but also the total project costs. This study investigates the effects of the riser length on its fatigue damage and lifetime. A global nonlinear time domain analysis is done using OrcaFlex software. To study the objective, ۴ Steel Catenary Risers having different lengths connected to a moored Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading platform located in deepwater under the same environmental and physical conditions are analyzed. The fatigue analysis is performed based on the S-N curve method. Results reveals that the length has considerable effects on the mentioned performance factors and can significantly enhance the lifetime.
