Effect of Pilates training and ginger supplementation on body composition and physiological parameters of inactive overweight women

چکیده

Overweight and obesity are the cause of metabolic syndrome and have many negative effects. Also, high BMI and WHR cause skeletal and psychological disorders on people and also cause high costs for receiving diets and doing heavy exercise. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of eight weeks Pilates training and ginger supplementation on weight, body composition and WHR of inactive overweight women.۲۴ inactive overweight women (age: ۲۳.۸ ±۱.۲۴, weight: ۷۴.۵ ±۴.۳۲ BMI: ۲۸± ۰.۵۴ participated in this study. Then, the subjects were divided into two groups of exercise with supplement and exercise with placebo. Subjects were trained for ۲ months during ۲۴ sessions of an exercise program for one hour. In experimental group, ۳ grams of ginger per day in two meals before breakfast and in afternoon was consumed. The placebo group received two capsules containing flour daily before breakfast and in the afternoon. ۲۴ hour before training, after one month and ۲۴ hour the last day of training, waist to hip ratio, height and weight were measured. Repeated Analysis of variance was used to analyze the data.There was a significant difference between eight weeks of Pilates training and ginger supplementation and placebo groups (p < ۰.۰۵). In addition, there was a significantly decrease in weight, WHR (p=۰.۰۰۱, F=۱۴.۵۱, p=۰.۰۰۱, F=۱۱.۶۷) after ۸ week Pilates training and ginger supplementation.
