چکیده مقاله:

Quality of Life as a multidimensional construct of objective and subjective factors comprises the individual s physical health, social relationships, psychological status, and environmental conditions (۱). Yoga has shown its effectiveness in addressing the pathological and psychological components. The aim of this study was to examine the effects of Hatha Yoga on quality of life in women with non-specific low back pain. This study was a clinical trial. Overall ۴۸ nonspecific low back pain participants, aged ۳۰ to ۵۰ years, were acquainted with the objectives and methodology of the study. All the participants completed the thirty six- item Quality of Life questionnaire at the beginning of the study; then, they were randomly divided into two groups of ۲۴ patients. The interventional group, on average, exercised three ۶۰-minute-sessions of Hatha yoga a week for eight weeks under the supervision of a physical educator who equally presented the program to all participants. At the end of the eight weeks, the post-test was performed and Quality of Life questionnaire were completed by the participants to determine the difference between interventional and control groups. To compare the differences in the two groups, T-test was used. Moreover, T-test was employed to compare the variables before intervention in the two groups. All statistical tests were performed at ۹۵% confidence interval(P<۰.۰۵).according to the study result, quality of life mean scores of the participants before intervention in the interventional group was ۶۰.۷ and in the control group was ۶۰.۸ that indicated no statistically significant difference between the two group before intervention, however, quality of life mean score after intervention changed to ۷۱.۵ in the intervention group and to ۶۱.۸ in the control group. Comparison of the quality of life mean scores before and after intervention in the two groups, by using dependent T-test, revealed statistically significant increase only in the interventional group(P<۰.۰۰۱).We concluded that Hatha yoga exercises had positive effects on quality of life. Therefore, regular Hatha yoga exercise as an effective strategy in improving quality of life among patients with Non-Specific Chronic low back pain is highly recommended.
