This paper presents the dynamic model of the photovoltaic (PV) cell and the control design of Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) using a buck converter. The proposed MPPT algorithm improves the Incremental Conductance scheme, indicating that the step size of the duty cycle is variable. In addition, small oscillations around MPP and high speed of convergence are the most critical features of the proposed method. The current paper also reports that the maximum power from the PV cell is obtained by changing the load value. All simulations have been performed in the MATLAB/SIMULINK environment.
