Investigation the negative effects of the prevalence of Covid-۱۹ in provision of speech-language pathology services to children with speech and language disorders

Background and Objective: Covid-۱۹ is an infectious disease with very high infectivity. The outbreak of this disease all over the world has many negative consequences, the most important of which is the closure of many businesses and service centers such as speech therapy clinics. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to investigate the negative effects of the prevalence of Covid-۱۹ on the provision of speech therapy services to children with speech and language disorders. Search Method: The present Study is a review. A total of ۲۴ articles were selected based on inclusion criteria, which after review, ۵ articles were excluded based exclusion criteria. Articles related to speech therapy services, articles related to coronary rehabilitation for children with speech and language disorders were included in the inclusion criteria, as well as articles on other areas of rehabilitation or the prevalence of other disorders. Related articles have also been selected and reviewed from pub med. Science direct and google scholar databases.Finding: Covid-۱۹ virus is easily transmitted through close contact between people and therefore it is recommended to use personal protective equipment such as masks, gloves and shields. At the same time, providing speech therapy services requires face-to-face and close communication between the therapist and the child. Also, making eye contact and observing the movements of the therapist’s lips and mouth by the child, can help in many cases. The therapists also sometimes have to use special massage for some clients, which in practice makes the use of personal protective equipment, providing treatment with difficulties and limitations.Conclusion: Covid-۱۹ is a contagious and infectious disease whose prevalence has limited the provision of various services, including speech therapy services, however, the best way to overcome these limitations is to use Tele-Rehabilitation. This kind of treatment can greatly reduce the problems and limitation of in person treatment.
