How well students were able to move through the pandemic?

Background: Unmistakably the current pandemic of covid-۱۹ has affected every single member of society, and students, one of the most vulnerable groups of community faced tons of challenges during this period of time. Depending on many factors it varies among individuals how well be able to handle the crisis. as a matter of fact, it is Resilience that gives us the ability to thrive in the face of adversity. Objective: The primary aim of this study was investigating the nursing student’s resilience in response to current crisis of covid-۱۹.Materials and Methods: We used a sample of ۴۲ freshman nursing students that their education stopped in the fourth week of academic calendar, and they had to keep up with online methods. The data were collected using the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC), two times first immediately at the beginning of quarantine, and another ۱۰ months after mandatory lock-down. This instrument, measures resilience or how well one is equipped to bounce back after stressful events, tragedy, or trauma. All analyze were conducted with spss (version ۲۲) Simple descriptive statistics, such as Means, SD, and Paired t-test were used for analysis.Findings: The findings showed that the resilience of nursing students, decreased ۱۰ months after the onset of the Covid-۱۹ crisis. the age range of participant were ۱۸-۲۵ year (mean: ۲۰.۵, standard deviation [SD] = ۲.۵۰). most of the students were (۵۷.۱۷%) were female. The results revealed that resilience mean at the first time of measurement (۱۰.۸۸±۱.۶۵) compare to the ۱۰ months later (۷.۱۱±۱.۱۹) decreased significantly. (P < ۰.۰۰۰۱)Conclusion: we wholeheartedly recommend that academies need to implant some educational courses regarding preparedness for such an unexpected situation as they can react to any similar crises in a better way, and increase their ability to continue their pre-scheduled plans with less challenges.
