چکیده مقاله:

Introduction & Aim: Introduction: Gastrointestinal cancers are among the most common cancers in the world and in Iran. Due to the increasing prevalence of cancer and the importance of its impact on all aspects of life of patients, it is important to assess their quality of life and help community health workers to organize their activities to improve the health and quality of life of patients. . Methods: The present study is a descriptive-analytical study. In this study, ۶۷ hospitalized patients with gastrointestinal cancer were selected by purposive sampling. Data collection tools were the standard quality of life questionnaire EORTC-QLQ-C۳۰ and the demographic information questionnaire. The obtained data were analyzed by SPSS software version ۲۱. Results: The results showed that the mean quality of life of the subjects was ۶۴.۸۸ ± ۱۵.۹۹ and was relatively good. Patients with esophageal cancer had the highest quality of life and colon cancer had the lowest quality of life scores. In general, patients performed better in the physical domain and poorer in the social domain. Fatigue in bowel cancer, nausea and vomiting and pain in esophageal cancer and constipation and diarrhea in gastric cancer were the most common symptoms affecting quality of life that had no significant relationship with the type of cancer (P = ۰.۵۶). Conclusion: According to the information obtained, people with colon cancer need more attention and support. Nurses with knowledge of the quality of life of these patients can play an important role in planning to improve and maintain the quality of life of these patients.
