Effects of curcumin/reduced graphene oxide nanocomposites on colon cancer cell lines

چکیده
Introduction: Colon carcinoma is the second leading cause of cancer death, and it is considered the big killer. Antioxidant/ anti-cancer agents were generated by nanotechnology may be the answer to reducing cancer mortality rates. Curcumin (CR) with antioxidant /anti-cancer properties inhibit cancer growth significantly but free CR shows restrict in absorption on cells and effect anti-cancer. Graphene and graphene nanocomposites provide advantages in cellular interactions with minimal cell damage. This review shows that the curcumin-graphene nanocomposite can have effective anticancer function for cell colon cancer. Methods: This review included relevant English-language publications. Results: A green effective fabricated nanocomposite of CR-capped gold nanoparticle-conjugated reduced graphene oxide (CAG) has been reported with prominent anti-oxidant and selective anti-cancer properties with in vitro colon cell lines. The result has been revealed concentration/time-dependent cytotoxicity of colon cancer cells (HT-۲۹ and SW-۹۴۸) for CAG and low IC۵۰ value (~۱۰۰ μg/ml). In other study, CAG has been shown appropriate nanoformulation platform in both chemotherapy-resistant and chemotherapy-responsive subtypes of colon cancer through ROS-mediated apoptosis. Synergistic cytotoxicity has been observed with the addition of ۵-Fluorouracil anticancer drug )۵-FU( and CR-loaded Chitosan/ reduced graphene oxide nanocomposite (۵-FU + CR@CS/Gr), proving the system's efficacy in inhibiting colon cancer growth in HT-۲۹ cells with an IC۵۰ value of ۲۳.۸ μg/ml. Furthermore, ۵-FU + CR@CS/Gr/Pd has been synthesized as anticancer drug and Pd nanospheres of nanocomposite can deliver the drug effectively and at a reduced dose (IC۵۰ value ۹.۸۷ μg/ml) Conclusion: CR-based graphene nanocomposites can be promising anticancer drugs in cancer nanotherapy.کلیدواژه ها
