Metastatic Breast Cancer Types and Patterns in Tehran Between ۲۰۱۷-۲۰۲۱: A Retrospective Study

Introduction: Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women. It can occur in both men and women, but it’s far more common in women. There is a ۱ in ۸ chance a woman in Unired States develop breast cancer(۱۳%). Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in women.The chance that a woman will die from breast cancer is about ۱ in ۳۸ (about ۲.۶%). In Iran breast cancer is the most common cancer among women(۱۶%); The median age of diagnosis in females with breast cancer is ۴۷.۱ to ۴۸.۸. Determination of metastasis types and patterns are important for improving the conditions and prognosis of this disease. Purpose: This study was performed to determine the various types and patterns of meta-static breast cancer in Tehran private hospitals between the years ۲۰۱۷-۲۰۲۱. Methods: In this description study ۲۱۴ patients with metastatic breast cancer in Tehran private hospitals between years ۲۰۱۷-۲۰۲۱ were enrolled and the types and patterns of breast cancer metastasis in them were determined. Results : The most common site of distant metastases was bone (۳۷.۴ %) , followed by lung (۲۲ %) liver (۱۰.۷%) brain (۳.۳%) and skin (۳.۳%). Local metastasis was ۱۷.۳%. lymph node positive subtypes patients had a higher probability of liver metastasis. In Tri-ple Negative (TN) subtypes duration of metastatic incidence was shorter than the other subtypes. No significant relation between Tumor size and the site of metastasis was seen.the distribution ratio between different metastatic regions, based on tumor type, wasn’t statistically significant. (p= ۰/۸۰۶) Conclusion: Totally, according to the obtained results, it can be concluded that beside the local metastasis, bones and lungs are the most common affected organs with breast cancer metastasis.
