Study of the Impact of Zayandehroud River’s Water Level on the Social Interactions Related to the Safavid Bridges in Isfahan

The drying of the Zayandehroud riverbed has made the pillars of the Safavid bridges usable spaces for the citizens in addition to the previous spaces. Therefore, it seems crucial to examine the emerging changes to the Zayandehroud’s water level over the bridge's social interactions. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of Zayandehroud's water levels on spatial configuration and social interactions of Safavid bridges, using space syntax theory and Depthmap software. The results indicate that drying of the riverbed has created spaces with different spatial configuration and affected the social interaction over the Khajou bridge the most.
