Volatile organic compounds in farmed and wild rohu, Labeo rohita, were extracted by Likens-Nickerson concurrent distillation apparatus. The farmed raised rohu of two weight categories designated as FW۱ (۱۰۰۱-۱۲۰۰g) and FW۲ (۵۰۱-۷۰۰g) were procured from the Fish Seed Hatchery, Faisalabad. Concurrently, wild rohu of two weight categories designated as WW۱ (۱۰۰۱-۱۲۰۰g) and WW۲ (۵۰۱-۷۰۰g) were captured with gillnet from the Trimu Head. Quantitative and qualitative estimation was made by gas chromatography. In farmed and wild L. rohita of the weight group FW۱ and WW۱, ۱۴ and ۶ volatile compounds were extracted, respectively. In weight group FW۱, six compounds were identified as ۳-methyl-۱-butanol, ۳-hexene-۱-ol, heptanal, ۳-octanol, decanal and ۲-undecanone. In weight group WW۱, out of six compounds three were identified as heptanal, ۱-octen-۳-ol, ۲-nonanone. In weight categories FW۲ and WW۲, ۱۴ and ۱۳ volatile compounds were detected, respectively. In weight category FW۲, out of ۱۴ compounds, ۳-hexene-۱-ol, heptanal, ۳-octanol, ۲-undecanone and decanal were identified. In weight category WW۲, out of ۱۳ compounds, ۷ were identified as ۳-methyl-۱-butanol, ۲-heptanone, heptanal, ۳-octanol, ۲-nonanone, decanal and ۲-undecanone. The analysis of variance for retention time and concentration of volatile compounds showed no significant difference (p>۰.۰۵). The correlation coefficient between retention time and concentration was significant (p< ۰.۰۵).
