Introducing an Intelligent Condition Based Maintenance System for Powerline Distribution Assets in Electric Energy Distribution Network

In all industries, maintenance of assets is one of the most important tasks especially in electric energy distribution network. Condition based maintenance uses operating conditions of assets to determine the scheduling tasks. In this paper, an expert system is designed to change maintenance schedule of power line transformers that are among the most expensive and critical assets in the electric energy distribution networks. Generally, all the transformers in the network have a fixed timing schedule for maintenance. The introduced fuzzy expert system uses different operating conditions of the transformers to dynamically chance the timing period of the maintenance. Cost analysis indicate that the dynamic scheduling method decreases the maintenance costs in a long period of time.
