Surface tensio n measurement of Pure Ioni c Liquid, ۱- hexyl-۳- methyl imidazolium Bromide [HMIM][Br] in different temperature

Ionic liquids (ILs) are molten salts made up of an anion and an o rganic cati on, they were discover ed in ۱۹۱۴. In recent years, ILs have been w idely used in chemical process an d industries due to their unique properties. Therefore the knowledg e of the thermodynamic properties of these ionic liquids and their mixtures with other solvents, su ch as surfa ce tension, density, viscosity, electrical conductivity and refractive in dex, is highly important [۱]. In this study, the surface tension of pure ionic liqui d, [HMIM][Br], and it s temperature depende ncy was stu died. The surface thermodynamic f unctions, su ch as surface entropy an d enthalpy, are derived and the critical temper ature, by Guggenheim [ ۲] equation, is estimated.
